Esprit de Corps Awards
The Esprit de Corps Award is presented annually to the cadet who demonstrates the best qualities of participation, leadership and spirit valued by the corps. The award consists of a master trophy retained by the corps and bearing the names of winners, and a miniature version presented to the winning cadet. It was inaugurated in 2006 and presented to Vanguard in memory of Gord Shires, long time cadet, officer and CO of Vanguard (79 – 83). The following year Haida was presented with the trophy and in 2008, Illustrious.
Lieutenant (N) Ryan Fraser (CO Vanguard) receives the “Esprit de Corps” from Mike Roger in 2006. Leading Cadet K. Penney receives the first “Esprit de Corps" award from Agnes Shires.
Award Winners for 2011
The Esprit de Corps Award was presented for the first time at RCSCC Scarborough and it honours Gary Gotter a former cadet and Officer with RCSCC Scarborough who passed away last year. The award was presented to Master Seaman Tony Fan by Mrs. Gotter and Charlie Fisher, a former Commanding Officer of RCSCC Scarborough.
This year’s presenter at Vanguard was Gerry Watson, former Haida (original) and Vanguard cadet 1957 - 1963. The winners are twin brothers - PO2 Ivan Prikhodko and PO2 Iakov Prikhodko.

John Chattoe, former original Haida cadet and first coxswain of Vanguard had the honor of presenting CPO2 Warner Moczulski of Haida with the TSCAA Esprit de Corps Award. CPO2 Moczulski was also promoted to Cox'n at the review.
