About Us
The Toronto Sea Cadet Alumni Association was established to re-unite former members of the original Toronto Sea Cadets Corps, their successors and those interested in Sea Cadet Affairs. Our aim is to keep in touch, inform and entertain.
The Association came about as a result of a very successful reunion held in 2003, spearheaded by Garry Thomson and Mike Roger, Petty Officers of Haida in the 1950s. More than 150 former Sea Cadets, Sea Rangers, Wrenettes and their spouses came together at the very building on Lakeshore Blvd. erected by the Navy League in 1927 as local head quarters and Sea Cadet Barracks. It had been home to many of the attendees when they were members of the original Haida Corps. A follow-up reunion the next year resulted in the decision to formally establish an association, and an executive committee of the Toronto Sea Cadet Alumni was nominated and duly constituted.
The purpose of the organization is two-fold: to communicate with former Sea Cadets, Sea Rangers and Wrenettes in order that they may be informed about current events and changes in the Sea Cadet movement, and to provide an avenue in which they may renew old acquaintances and friendships.
Starting with Remembrance Day 2006, the TSCAA provided a Ceremonial Colour Guard for the Naval Club of Toronto and continues to provide colour guards for Battle of Atlantic, D-Day and Warriors’ Day Ceremonies. In April 2007 the TSCAA entered into a formal affiliation with the Naval Club of Toronto.
TSCAA executive and members attend the annual reviews for the sea cadet corps in the Greater Toronto area and in 2006 we started presenting an annual “Esprit de Corps” award to cadets from those corps.
We welcome all former Cadets, Rangers and Wrenettes to join us in keeping alive what was the best of times.
